I attended the TEA Party protest in Coos Bay today from about noon til about 2:00 PM. It was a polite gathering of about 150 to 200 people who are pretty much fed up with the way we are being taxed and with the current political situation in America.
I held a sign for a couple of hours next to Highway 101 Northbound and listened to several speakers, including the Libertarian candidate for the Governor of Oregon (didn’t catch his name). What I noticed most standing there was that the vast majority of the people who drove by our spot on the Boardwalk in Coos Bay (right downtown on the waterfront) were overwhelmingly in favor of our protest, giving us thumbs up and honking as they drove past.
This event was not as well attended as the last one on Tax Day Tea Party (April 15th); I saw many of the same faces among the protesters. Only about 150 to 200 people, by my estimate, attended today whereas about 400 attended the last one on Tax Day. I think it was the perfect weather on this holiday, and the fact that there was an Air Show going on just up the road from us, led to a lower turnout. We’ll see what happens at the next one.
Here are some photos from the TEA Party protest in Coos Bay today:
Cant wait to get together and show others that conservatives are here and we are not happy with the direction of our country. Hope to see a lot of you out there.
I assume this will be the 4th of July. We had one on the 4th of July last year. It’s becoming something of a tradition. I’ll post more details as I get them.
Friends:
Do not vote for democrats in 2012. America voted for change in 2008, but not for Obama, pelosi and Reid change. In my opinion Obama has leftist social agenda. He does not have the experience to run this great country. Take the power away from him, Pelosi and Reid. Give Republicans control of both houses with full veto power over Obama in case he is re-elected.
